HP is a well-known multinational technology company specialized in manufacturing printers, desktops, laptops, servers and more. A couple of weeks ago, the company announced a new and redesigned form factor of the 15 and 17-inch laptops with a rebranded design, advanced technology, more performance, better sound experience and new features for its customers. Moreover, it added a 3D edition for the 17-inch model.
All three machines will be hitting the market on December 7th, so you can consider one of them a great gift for winter holidays. Still, let’s see what they have to offer. The first model, the 15-inch laptop is the smallest and the most affordable piece; it is set to cost $1,099.99. HP Envy 15-inch laptop features a a 15.6-inch LED-backlit touchscreen plus a backlit keyboard. It uses HP’s Radiance display and a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels which can be upgraded up to a 1920 x 1080.
Probably the most remarkable change is the presence of the Beats Audiosystem which provides a performant audio sound quality, featuring six speakers and a subwoofer. The base model comes with a Intel Core i5-2430M CPU clocked at 2.4GHz, though you can choose for a powerful model with quad-core i7, 6GB of DDR3 RAM, 500GB of HDD. It has also a DVD drive on board, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11n, 802.11g, 802.11a and Wireless Video.
Regarding the ports selection, the 15-inch laptop includes an HDMI, one DisplayPort, two USB 3.0 sockets plus an USB 2.0. HP claims that it will last up to nine hours of usage. In comparison with the previous model which was too masculine, the rebranded 15-inch laptop has a similar design with Apple’s products with all-metal chassis, rounded shapes and being more gender-neutral. Not as light as other laptops, it weights 2.85 kg.
As its name indicates, the second model features a larger screen with a 17.3-inch touchscreen with a base resolution of 900×1600 pixels that can go to maximum 1920×1080 pixels. The starting price for the base version will be available for $1,250, being also available in multiple configurations. It is the successor of the previous 17-inch Envy laptop and, just like the 15-inch laptop, it comes with Beats Audio system incorporated.
Minimum internal specifications for the 17-inch laptop indicate a base Core i5-2430M processor clocked at 2.4GHz, 6GB of RAM, a higher 750GB of HDD, AMD graphics, six speakers, subwoofer and about the same battery life as the smaller version. The 17-inch laptop will also have a faster USB 3.0, a DisplayPort plus the same Radiance display. Its design has also been changed, being more stylish and catchy and weighing 3.4 kg, which makes it a little more chubby than the 15-inch model.Software wise, both 15 and 17-inch laptops come with Windows 7 operating system included.
The last model could be the most attractive for most consumers, due the fact that has a 3D technology integrated. the new HPEnvy 17-inch 3D comes with a metal body, a fancy design and also integrated Beats Audio technology for a better sound audio system. Regarding its internal specs, it features the same Intel Core i5 processor for the mase model along with 8GB of RAM, 750GB of HDD, AMD Radeon HD graphics, a six-cell battery, an extra Blu-Ray player, Bluetooth, WiDi and a pair of 3D glasses to enjoy a 3D content.
Just like the 15 and 17-inch models, it will be available in multiple configurations, with a starting price of $1,600 for the base model. It will also be running Windows 7 operating system and will hit the market same period’ December 7th.
